NFV engineer

Network functions virtualization (NFV) (also known as virtual network function (VNF)) offers a new way to design, deploy and manage networking services. NFV decouples the network functions, such as network address translation (NAT), firewalling, intrusion detection,domain name service (DNS), and caching, to name a few, from proprietary hardware appliances so they can run in software.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 1 year of experience in programming Java and/or C and Python.

  2. Minimum of 1 year experience in a role requiring understanding of IP Routing technologies and networking protocols.

  3. Minimum of 1 year in development experience working in virtualization environments including KVM, Xen and/or VMware ESX.

  4. Demonstrated ability to debug/analyze bottlenecks in Linux environment and build improvements to increase performance, efficiency, scalability and stability of system components of a scalable network system

  5. English

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with SDN controllers (e.g. OpenDaylight). Specific knowledge in NFV/SDN area (benefits, technologies, key vendors, use cases, etc.);

  2. Working knowledge of Open vSwitch (OVS), OVSDB, OpenFlow, and networking tunneling protocols.

  3. Experience in Linux middleware development with exposure to open source integrations of tools and libraries.

  4. Experience in OS Networking subsystem and network and system performance optimizations.

  5. Good understanding of modern Intel platform architecture and platform advancements in CPU microarchitecture, cache and memory, IO and virtualization, etc.

  6. Proficiency in networking protocol, concepts and device architectures (NICs, routers, switches, virtual switches, network devices like load balancer, NAT, firewall, VLANs, OpenVPN, iptables, dnsmasq, tunneling, overlay networking, layer 4-7 services, topology discovery, path computation, etc. )

  7. Exposure to virtualization and cloud technologies such as OpenStack, virtual networking, distributed programming, Linux containers, and SDN/NFV.
